If a good team starts with a good goalkeeper, there was no lack of great cast in 2016. The glove players stood out this season and made important defenses to get their teams to great achievements. Diego Andrade (RCH - ECU), Fernando Arellano (Sidekicks - MEX), Oliver Saldanha (Atlético - BRA) and Ignacio Drago (Academia - PER) are the four best nominees for 2016.
The Mexican representative Fernando Arellano, the Sidekicks, is the only candidate who won a title in 2016. The goalkeeper led the team to the top of the Copa Sudamericana. In the same competition, Ignacio Drago, of the Academia, reached the final of the championship, but finished with the vice championship.
Diego Andrade was not able to take the RCH to the final of the League of the Americas, however, he was awarded the prize of best goalkeeper of the competition. The Brazilian Oliver Saldanha was the highlight of Atlético in the Copa Sul taking the team to the final stages.
The winner will be revealed on January 10th.
