The Copa América de Futebol 7 was held in Porto Alegre (Brazil) with the participation of 10 national teams in the men's and women's categories. The best players from South America were in the field in search of the continental title.
In the women's category Brazil won the title unbeaten, beating Argentina, Chile and Uruguay in the first phase and again Argentina in the final. In third place was the national team of Uruguay. This was the first time that Brazil won the Copa América in the category. The current champion was the Peruvian national team.
At the closing ceremony the individual highlights of the championship were awarded. Goalkeeper Monique (Brazil), striker Fernanda Goes (Brazil), the best coach, Cesar Gonzales (Argentina) and the best player of the competition, Marina Hoher (Brazil).
