Chile prepares for third participation in Copa America

The Chilean team is confirmed for the Copa America 2020 dispute, between December 7 and 9, in Brazil. This will be the third consecutive year that Chile will be represented in the competition with teams in the male and female category. For the second consecutive year, the event will be held in the city of Porto Alegre.

This year Chile intends to make a more consistent campaign and seek a place among the top three teams of the Americas. In 2018, Chileans participated for the first time in the competition. On Peruvian soil, the Chilean teams showed a lot of disposition and had great duels with traditional teams in football 7.

“The first two years of selection were a lot of learning. Our first participation at the level of the national team was in Lima, where we met with football 7 at a level that did not exist in Chile, so it was very difficult to achieve good results in a sport we had just learned ”, said Gonzalo, director of ANF7 .

Last year, Chile had a better ranking in both the male and female categories. "This year the expectation is to continue improving the game, we already know our rivals much better and we believe that this could be the opportunity for Chile to win its first podium as a national team," said Gonzalo.
