Guatemala National Football 7 League affiliates with the International Federation and expands presence in the Americas

The Liga Nacional de Futebol 7 da Guatemala has become the newest affiliated entity of the Federação Internacional de Futebol 7, strengthening the international expansion and consolidation of the Football 7 discipline. This official affiliation places Guatemala on the global Football 7 map, ensuring institutional recognition and direct alignment with the guidelines of the sport’s highest governing body worldwide.

Under the presidency of Daniel Alejandro Cruz Estrada, the Guatemala National Football 7 League will be responsible for organizing and managing Football 7 in the country, including the formation and administration of the National Team. In addition, the entity will oversee the accreditation of Guatemalan clubs for the Liga das Américas, an international club competition to be held in Brazil in November 2026, featuring a total prize pool of US$200,000.

According to Hugo Loureiro, President of the International Football 7 Federation, the affiliation represents another strategic milestone in the continental growth of the sport: “The inclusion of the Guatemala National Football 7 League reinforces our project for the structured and sustainable development of Football 7 across the Americas. It is a committed organization that assumes responsibility for the national team and for preparing clubs to compete in major international tournaments such as the Americas League. We are confident that Guatemala will play a significant role in the future of international Football 7.”
